Multi-Sensory Environment

March 31, 2015

Seeing in believing!  Please view this video to develop a better understanding of how we utilize our MSE Room both in Crookston and East Grand Forks.  This room is used to stimulate our clients in an effort to bring up their level of stimulation (for those who might be lathargic or tired) up and over stimulate or start the room "higher" in stimuation than the person using the room in an effort to lower their stimulation level and calm them through their time in the room.  No matter the "need" of the person using the room, the objective is to have that person leave the MSE Room feeling relaxed and calm.

The impact for some has resulted in their ability to eat their meal in half the normal time because they are stimuated, focused and calm.  We had a gal reduce her time wheeling herself down the hall after a 30 minute session in this room.  Others have improved their ability to work as they come out of that room calm and able to focus on the task at hand.  Some report a better nights sleep after spending time in the Multi-Sensory Enviornment.

Linda Messbauer has shared a link to a short YouTube video of the MSE at Golisano Children's Hospital in Syracuse, NY which was designed by Linda.
